Ishida Takashi: Between Tableau and Window

Ishida Takashi: Between Tableau and Window

Setouchi Triennale 2025: No.tk14

Ishida Takashi《Between Tableau and Window》2018 ©Ishida Takashi

Video, which can be considered a window into time-based art, contains, on its screen paintings that continue to generate and transform, qualitative changes in space brought about by light and darkness, and traces of the painter's thought processes. After developing installations composed of video, space, and three-dimensional works, Ishida Takashi has recently returned to canvas painting for the first time since his teens, once again tackling the challenge of depicting space and time on a static plane. This exhibition, his first major solo show since 2015, reconsiders Ishida Takashi's work through approximately 80 pieces, including his representative works, new creations, and many works being shown to the public for the first time.
