A Method of Recurrence

A Method of Recurrence

In Without You, scenes from classical masterpieces are finely reproduced with the main character alone extracted; in Perfect World, we are shown two versions of the same motif, such as buildings or figures of people taken at tourist spots. As evident in these works, accurate depiction and expression reaching out to the sensitivity of the audience establish the unique world of Ogawa Shinji. This exhibition, with the theme of “recurrence”, displays around 35 pieces created through various methods, such as oil, acrylic, pencil, ink, and video, in work ranging from the early part of his career as a painter in the 1980s to his latest expression. Additionally, the library section introduces his favorite books from his school days along with his work, and the Branch Gallery features new work created specifically for the site.
