“THE COLLECTION OF THE TAKAMATSU ART MUSEUM” EXHIBITION CELEBRATING THE MUSEUM’S REOPENING A CONCISE GUIDE TO LIFE WITH JAPANESE CONTEMPORARY ART
SPECIAL
March 26(Sat)-April 17(Sun),2016
Takamatsu Art Museum will be reopened in renovated form in March 2016. Three major collections have been accumulated systematically: “Contemporary Art in Postwar Japan” , “World Art in the 20th Century and Beyond” , and “Arts & Crafts of Kagawa” .
Today, this overall collection of a total of approximately 1,600 works is one of Japan’ s leading collections of contemporary Japanese art both in terms of quantity and quality, and can surely be described as an art archive that brings pride to the Creative City of Takamatsu, which is buzzing with artistic influences such as the Setouchi Triennale.
This exhibition commemorates the reopening and renovation of Takamatsu Art Museum, introducing around 110 carefully selected pieces from its modern contemporary art collection, which has received domestic and international acclaim. We hope that through this exhibition you will enjoy the multilayered appeal of modern contemporary art and its expansive expression.
